The question recurring upon the first clause of the motion as divided, It was decided in the negative, and The hill was not substituted for the report of the Com- mittee. The question then recurring upon the last clause of the motion, It was decided in the negative, and The bill not referred to a Select Committee, The unfavorable report of the Committee on the Judiciary was then adopted. Said bill was then returned to the Senate. Mr. Foster, Chairman of the Committee on Corporations, reported favorably, The Senate bill, entitled an Act to incorporate the Queen City Savings' Bank of Cumberland, Maryland. Which was read a second time. Mr. Young, of Washington, Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, reported favorably, The Senate bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Agricul- tural and Mechanical Society of Allegany county, and West Virginia and Pennsylvania, to issue additional coupon bonds, and secure the payment thereof. Which was read a second time. Mr. Colton, of Baltimore City, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, reported favorably, The Senate bill, entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to pay Thomas J. Twilley, Tax Collector for Sharps- town district, in Wicomico county, for overpayment into the Treasury, for the years 1868 and 1869. Which was read a second time. Mr. Smith, from the Committee on the Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries, to whom was referred the order adopted on Monday, instructing said Committee to inquire into the cause of the destruction of the ice-boats Chesapeake and Mary- land, &c., asked to be discharged from the further considera- tion thereof. |
