Mr. Carroll presented the petition of the President and. Directors of the Baltimore and Drum Point Railroad, in .relation to the sale of the State's interest in the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Railroad Company, to the Baltimore and. Drum Point Railroad Company. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi- nance, On motion by Mr, Carroll, Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro- duce a bill to authorize the sale of the State's interest in the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Railroad to the Baltimore and Drum Point Railroad Company. Mr. Davis presented the petition of Joseph Hoover and others, in relation to the Mortgage Law. Which was read and laid on the table. Mr, Steiner presented the petition of James King and seventy-five other colored citizens, praying the establish- ment of separate schools for the education of their children. Also, The petition of Joshua Brinkley and fifty other colored citizens, asking the same. Which were severally read and referred to the Committee on Education. Mr. Carroll presented the petition of Wm. Davis and others, of Howard county, asking the passage of a law for the better protection of sheep. Which was read and referred to Messrs. Carroll, Spates and Williams. Mr. Downs presented the petition of Elizabeth E. Shanks, a widow of a soldier of the war of 1812, asking lor a pension. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen- sions. On motion by Mr. Compton, it was Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on Claims issue his certificate in favor of Samuel Davis, for the sum of |
