weighers' office; and it shall be the duty of the Weighers
General of Grain to have weighed all grain carried as aforesaid,
to said City for sale, except that delivered through elevators as
aforesaid; and it shall be the duty of Weighers General to pro-
ceed to weigh all grain authorized to be weighed by this sec-
tion, within at least two hours after the same is reported,
and continue weighing until the weighing is completed, and
for every failure to comply with this provision, the said.
Weigher General shall be liable to a penalty of twenty dol-
lars, to be recovered before any Justice of the Peace in Bal-
timore City, one half of the fine to go to the informer, and
the other half to the State, the suit to be brought in the
name .of the State; if any grain shall he brought by water or
railroad to Baltimore for sale in bags, the said weigher shall
weigh the said grain on board the vessel, steamboat or car,
without removing it from the bags, if the buyer and seller
shall mutually agree.
Mr. Williams submitted the following amendment to the
amendment :
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Amend by inserting at the end of the proposed amend-
ment, "Provided, however, that if the owner of any grain
shall, by his directions, give in writing to the consignee
thereof, direct that his grain shall not be weighed by the
weighers appointed under the provisions of this Act, the
said grain shall not be weighed or measured by sand
weighers.
