1872.] OF THE SENATE. 345. Mr. Stephenson, from a Select Committee, reported A bill, entitled an Act to protect the class of small birds, known as Insectivorous Birds, in Harford county. Which was read the first time. Mr. Denson presented the petition of Eliza Barnes, asking, a pension. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen- sions. Mr. Denson, from a Select Committee, to which leave had been granted, reported A bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 872, of Article IT. of the Public Local Laws, relating to the City of Baltimore, entitled an Act authorizing the extension of the limits of direct taxation within the City of Baltimore, be, and the game is hereby repealed, and the following re-enacted in lieu thereof. Which was read the first time. The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and deliv- ered the following House bill, entitled an Act to declare valid an election held in the City of Baltimore, on the 20th day of February, 1872. Which was read and referred to Messrs. Denson, Blake-and Stephenson. Also, returned The Senate Joint Resolutions instructing the Senators and, Representatives in Congress to use their influence to secure an appropriation by Congress, to deepen the Patuxent River, Endorsed "Passed by yeas and nays." Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, to which had been referred The House bill entitled an Act amendatory of an Act passed at December Session, 1849, chapter 358, entitled an. Act incorporating the Union Turnpike Road Company, in. Montgomery county, Reported favorably thereon, and Said bill was read the second, time.
