1872.] OF THE SENATE. 325 MONDAY, March 4, 1872. The Senate met. Prayer by Rev. Dr. Bull. Present at roll call the following Senators : Messrs. President, Blake, Compton, Carroll, Claggett, Downs, Earle, Henry, Jump, Longwell, Stephenson, Spates, Sellman, Spencer, Steiner, Tuck, Wilson—14. The proceedings of Friday were read and approved. Mr. Tuck presented the petition of Mrs. Kiziah Hutchinson, asking to be put on the pension list. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions. Mr. Henry presented the petition of S. S. Ewell, Thomas Higgins and other citizens of Dorchester county, praying that the County Commissioners of said county may be authorized to issue bonds to aid in the construction of the Vienna Rail- road. Which was read and referred to the Committee heretofore appointed OB that subject. Also, The petition of W. J. Bowdle, Joshua Jefferson and thirty- three other citizens of Church Creek, Maryland, praying the passage of a law changing the corporate limits of said town. Which was read and referred to Messrs. Henry, Compton and Denson. Mr. Downs presented a petition from the County Commis- sioners of St. Mary's county, asking that so much of section 18 of the Code of Public Local Laws of said county, as relates to the appointment of Trustees of the Poor, be repealed, and that the Poorhouse be placed under the direct control of the County Commissioners. Which was read and referred to Messrs. Downs, Steiner and Tuck. Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, to which had been referred House bill, entitled an Act to amend and re-enact section 8, of the Public Local Laws, passed February 16, 1864, chap. 96, and supplements thereto, entitled an Act to incorporate |
