Mr. Compton moved to amend the motion, by striking out "Tuesday," and inserting "to-morrow at 12 o'clock." Mr. Fields moved to amend the amendment, by inserting Saturday, at 12 o'clock, in place of to-morrow, at 12 o'clock. Which was determined in the negative. The vote recurring upon the amendment of Mr. Compton. The yeas and nays being demanded. Said amendment was determined in the negative as fol- lows : AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. Blake -Henry, Compton, Jump, Carroll, Stephenson, Crawford, Steiner, Downs, Tuck—10. NEGATIVE. Messrs. President, Miller, Claggett, Spates, Denson, Sellman, Dennis, Timmons, Fields, Williams—10. The vote recurring upon the original motion offered by Mr. Fields. Mr. Compton moved to amend the motion by adding, "that when said question arises on Tuesday nest, the subject be continued from day to day until disposed of finally. Which was adopted. The vote recurring upon the motion of Mr. Fields, as amended. It was adopted. On motion by Mr. Blake, The Senate adjourned. |
