1872.] OF THE SENATE. 28& BY THE SENATE, February 27, 1872. Gentlemen of the House of Delegates : We propose, with your concurrence, the appointment of a Joint Committee of five by your Honorable Body, and four by the Senate, to take into consideration the claim of the State against the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company for one-fifth of the passenger transportation on the Washington branch road, with a view to its adjustment, without further litigation, on the principles announced by the Court, of Ap- peals, on the 3d of May, 1871, ii the cash of the State against that Company, and also to consider the expediency of releasing the said Company from the further payment to the State of any portion of said passenger transportation, and taxing the Company, or receiving other equivalent in lieu thereof. We have appointed on the part of the Senate Messrs.—— By order, AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY, Secretary. Pending the consideration of said message, On motion by Mr. Henry, The Senate adjourned. |
