1872.] OF THE SENATE. 273 The Senate proceeded to the consideration of Executive business. The Senate having resumed the consideration of Legisla- tive business, Leave of absence was granted to Messrs. Compton, Carroll and Sellman for a few days. The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and delivered the following bills : The House bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 1., of Ar- ticle LXVII., of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to Notaries Public, and re-enact the same so as to read as follows. Which was read the first time, and referred to the Com- mittee on Judicial Proceedings. Also, The House bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Trustee's of the Methodist Protestant Church, in Salisbury, to sell and convey certain property belonging to them. Which was lead the first time and referred to Messrs. Crawford, Claggett and Stephenson. Also, The House bill, entitled an Act amendatory of an Act passed January Session, 1864, chapter 381, entitled an Act to incorporate the Merchants' and Mechanics' Fire Insur- ance Company of Baltimore. Which was read the first time, and referred to the Com- mittee on Corporations. Also, The House bill, entitled an Act to repeal, amend and re- enact chapter 361, passed at January Session, 1870, entitled an Act to authorize the County Commissioners of Harford county to sell a part of the Poorhouse Farm, and to erect suitable buildings for the use of the paupers of said county, and to levy a sum of money for that purpose. Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs. Stephenson, Claggett and Crawford. Also, The House bill, entitled an Act to exempt the Second Elec- tion District of Baltimore county from the operation of chap- ter 265, of the Public Local Laws, passed January Session 1870, relating to swine running at large. Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs. Davis, Stephenson and Tuck. 18 |
