A hill, entitled an Act to provide for the appointment of
a Treasurer, and a more economical collection of taxes in
Anne Arundel County. ,
Which was read the first time and ordered to be printed.
Mr. Stephenson presented the memorial of G. P. Cook,
praying the passage of a law confirming the sale of certain
property therein named.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ju-
dicial Proceedings.
Mr. Spencer presented the petition of C. G. Brewer, and
others, praying the passage of a law relieving Isaac S.
Rogers and the other sureties on the bond of S. G. Copper,
late collector in Kent county.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.
Also,
The petition of sundry citizens of Chestertown, for an
amendment of a charter of said town.
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Spencer, Williams
and Sellman.
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 65, of
Article XIX. of the Code of Public Local Laws of Somerset
county, relating to the number of Justices of the Peace and
Constables, and to re-enact the same with amendments,
Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading,
The Senate bill, entitled, a further supplement to an Act
entitled an Act to incorporate the Chesapeake Buy and Po-
tomac River Tide-Water Canal Company, passed January
Session, 1866, chapter 173, and to extend the time for com-
pleting the said canal,
Was read the second time and ordered to- be engrossed for
a third reading.
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to create an additional
election district in Carroll county,
Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to authorize the County
Commissioners of Allegany county to issue bonds to raise
money to build a new Jail, enlarge, improve and repair the
Court House, and insure the county buildings and property
of said county,
Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.
