1872.] OF THE SENATE. 215 Leave of absence was granted Mr. Henry until Tuesday next. On motion by Mr. Timmons, Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Crawford until Fri- day. The following Senate bill, having passed both branches of the General Assembly of Maryland, was tins day presented to his Excellency, the Governor, for his approval: An Act supplemental to the Act of 1870, chapter 68, en- titled an Act to authorize the County Commissioners of Frederick county to build a new Almshouse for Frederick county; to borrow money on the credit of the county for that purpose; to issue bonds for the payment of the same, and to levy taxes on the assessable property of said county to re- deem ("aid bonds, and to pay the interest thereon. On motion by Mr. Blake, The Senate adjourned. THURSDAY, February 15, 1871. The Senate met. Prayer by Rev. Father Otis. Present at roll call the following Senators: Messrs. President, Blake, Compton, Carroll, Claggett, Denson, Davis, Downs, Dennis, Fields, Jump, Longwell Miller, Stephenson, Spates, Sellman, Steiner, Timmons Williams—17. The Proceedings of yesterday were read and approved. Mr. Jump presented the petition of John V. Salloway asking a pension. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions. Also, The petition of J. W. Dawson, and twenty-nine others, in relation to the collection of money due the State by the .Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company. |
