EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,
ANNAPOLIS, February 14th, 1872
Gentlemen of the Senate :
1 have approved and signed the following bills received
from your Honorable Body, and have transmitted the same
'to the Clerk of the Court of Appeals, in accordance with the
requirements of the Constitution, viz:
An Act to confirm and approve an Act passed at January
.Session, 1870, chapter 2, entitled "an Act to authorize the
County Commissioners of Frederick county to subscribe to
the stock of Turnpike Companies in said County."
Also,
An Act to change the name of the Children's Aid Society
of Baltimore, and otherwise to amend the Constitution of
aid Society."
Also,
"An Act to permit Frederick Charles Petre, an alien, to
hold certain real estate.
WM. PINKNEY WHYTE,
Governor.
Mr. Steiner presented the petition of F. T. King, trea-
surer, and Geo. T. Cole, secretary of the Board of Trustees
of the Baltimore Normal School, tor the education of colored
teachers, praying for an appropriation to aid in support of
Said school.
-Was read and referred to the Committee on Education.
On motion by Mr. Tuck,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
Introduce a bill, entitled a further supplement to an Act to
incorporate the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River Tide
Water Canal Company, passed at January Session of 1866,
chapter 173, and to extend the time for completing the said
canal.
On motion by Mr. Tuck,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Blake and Denson to report
a bill, entitled an Act to authorise and empower the Regis-
ter of the City of Baltimore to pay to Sprigg Hardwood, the
Cleric of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel county, a sum
of money, to be by him applied to the payment of the
claims of the jurors, for their attendance in the case of the
State of Maryland vs. Ellen G. Wharton, removed from the
Criminal Court for Baltimore City to the Circuit Court for
Anne Arundel county.
