196 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 13, DEPARTMENT OF THE Interior, Pension Office, War of 1812, WASHINGTON, D. O., Feb. 8, 1872. SIR—In compliance with your request of the 30th ultimo, I have the honor to transmit herewith a list of pensioners under the Act of February 14th, 1871, from the State of Maryland. Very respectfully, C. W. SEATON, Acting Commissioner. Hon. LEVIN WOOLFORD, Comptroller of the Treasury, Annapolis, Md. [See Document I.] Which were read and referred to the Committee on Pensions. Mr. Spencer presented the petition of Joseph P. Ireland, Wm. A. Hyland, Jno. T. Hurtt and forty-three other citi- zens of Kent county, praying the continuation of the Act of ' Assembly of 1865, chapter 67, regulating Constables fees. Which was read and referred to Messrs. Spencer, Dennis and Steiner. Mr. Steiner presented the petition of David E. Stein, and twenty-two other citizens of Carroll county, praying the passage of a law making School Commissioners elective by the people. Also, The petition of Josiah Englan, and twenty other citizens of Oarroll county, praying the same. Which were severally read and referred to the Committee on Education. On motion by Mr. Miller, Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed- ings, to report a bill, to be entitled an Act to repeal the thirty-sixth section of Article X-, of the Code of Public Gene- ral Laws, entitled "Attachments," and to re-enact the same as amended. Mr. Stephenson, from a Select Committee, to which leave had been granted, reported A bill, entitled an Act to exempt all that portion of the waters of the Chesapeake Bay lying northward of a certain line therein described, from the operation and effects of section- |
