The rules were suspended as required by the 27 section, of
Article III. of the Constitution, so as to give said bill a
second reading this day, as follows :
AFFIRMATIVE.

Compton, Spates,
Carroll, Sellman,
Claggett, Spencer,
Earle, Steiner,
Fields, Timmons,
Henry, Wilson,
Longwell, Williams—18.
NEGATIVE—'None.
Said bill being upon its second reading,
On motion by Mr. Carroll,
It was referred to the Committee on Finance.
On motion, the Senate adjourned.
FRIDAY, February 9, 1872.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by Rev. Dr. Henderson.
Present at roll call the following Senators :
Messrs. President, Blake, Compton, Crawford, Claggett,
Denson, Davis, Dennis, Earle, Fields, Henry, Longwell,
Miller, Stephenson, Spates, Sellman, Spencer, Steiner, Tim-
mons, Wilson, Williams—21.
The Proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.
Mr. Denson presented the memorial of the Board of Beneficence of St. John's Independent M. P. Church, of the City
of Baltimore, praying the passage of a law carrying into
effect the bequeath of the will of the late John dark, de-
ceased.,
Which wag read, and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings.
