1872. OF THE SENATE. W
The Cleric of the House of Delegates appeared and deliver-
ed the following message:
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
February 6, 1872.
Gentlemen of the Senate':
We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,.
the appointment of a Joint Special Committee of two upon
the part of the Senate, and three of this House, to visit the
Spring Grove Asylum for the insane, authorized to scrutinize
the contracts and accounts generally of the President and
Visitors of the Maryland State Hospital, as requested by the
President lit and Visitors of said Institution, in their report to
this General Assembly. The said Committee to report by
bill or otherwise.
We have appointed on the part of this House, Messrs.
Clarke, of Baltimore city, Markland and Hardcastle.

- Mr. Williams submitted the following message :
BY THE SENATE,
February 8th, 1872.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :
We have received your message, proposing the appointment of a Joint Special Committee of the two Houses of the
General Assembly, to visit the Spring Grove Asylum for the
Insane, and also to take into consideration the accounts and
contacts of the President and Visitors of the Maryland Hos-
pital, and concur therein.
We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs. Wil-
liams and Carroll.

Mr. Stephenson demanded the yeas and nays upon the
adoption of the said message, and it was adopted as follows:
