Senate bill, entitled an Act to amend and add to section 5,
of Article LXIV., of the Code of Public General Laws, en-
titled "Mortgages."
Reported unfavorably thereon, and
The report was adopted.
Mr. Longwell, from the Select Committee to which had'
been referred
The House bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower
the County Commissioners of Carroll County, to subscribe to the capital stock of Turnpike Companies in Carroll county,
Reported favorably thereon, and,
Said bill was read the second time.
Also,
House bill, entitled an Act to make valid the sale and
transfer by the Union Bridge Turnpike Company, to the
Liberty, Johnsville, and Pipe Creek Turnpike Road
Company, of all that part of the road of said Union Bridge
Turnpike Company from Union Bridge, Carroll county,
Maryland, to Daniel Wolf's, in Frederick county, Maryland,
Reported favorably thereon, and,
Said bill was read the second time.
Mr. "Williams, from the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, to which had been referred
House bill, entitled an Act granting the assent of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland to the bequest made in the last
will and testament of Elijah Bishop, late of Harford county,
deceased, to Wm. F. Brand, as trustee, directing him to ex-
pend a part of said bequest in the completion of St. Mary's
P. E. Church, in Harford county,
Reported favorably thereon, and said bill was read the
second time.
Also,
A bill, entitled an Act to extend the jurisdiction of Jus-
tices of the Peace in Talbot county, in cases of assault and
battery. , *
Which was read the first time.
Also,
A bill, entitled an Act to enable W. H. Perot, an alien,
to hold, inherit and transmit real estate in the State of Mary-
land.
Which was read the first time.
