1872.] OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES. 177
introduce a bill authorizing and empowering the Commis-
sioners of, Baltimore County to make certain applications of
funds now in their possession.
On motion of Mr. Clark., of Baltimore City,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce bills to amend (.he charters of the gas companies
of Baltimore City, and to provide by adequate penalties, for
the protection of the people of said City, by securing a more
reliable mode of ascertaining the quantity of gas charged to
each consumer, and for the furnishing by said gas companies,
of proper and sufficient quality of illuminating gas to the
City of Baltimore.
Mr. Markland, Chairman, on the part of the House, of the
Joint Committee on Printing, submitted the following report
of the Joint Committee on Printing to the Senate and House
of Delegates.
REPORT.
ANNAPOLIS, MD., January 24th, 1872-
The undersigned, Chairmen of the Joint Committee on
Printing, are instructed to make the following report, with
the accompanying proposal of Messrs. S. Sands Mills, and L.
F. Colton, to do the Public Printing for the Session of 1872,
of the General Assembly of Maryland.
It is the judgment of your Committee that the sum of
thirty-eight thousand dollars is a reasonable estimate for the.
whole work, as it includes the printing which has already
been finished, and all printing yet to be done, as ordered.
by the Senate and House of Delegates, together with any
other printed matter in English which has not been specified
and may be ordered for the Session, the same being approved
by the Joint Committee on Printing. Your Committee re-
commend the acceptance of the proposition of Messrs. 8.
Sands Mills and L. F. Colton, for doing the printing work for
the Session of 1872, as this sum is two thousand dollars less
than the previous Session, and a greater increase of printing-
matter, there being two thousand copies of the Laws instead.
of one thousand.
i
Your Committee also state that, after waiting eight days,
there was but one proposition before them for doing the
Printing.
All of which is respectfully submitted,
DANIEL FIELDS,
Chairman Joint Corn. on Printing.
W. T. MARKLAND,
Chairman House Corn. on Printings
