176 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 26, The petition was referred to the Joint Comm ittee on Print- ing. ^ Mr. Jamart presented the petition of R. W. Reddish and seventy other citizens of Baltimore, for abolishment of cooper- ing in State Penitentiary. Which was road and referred to the Committee on Manu- factures. Mr. Hilton submitted the following order : Ordered, That leave of absence be granted to E. G. Gard- ner, Committee Clerk, until Tuesday next. Which was adopted. Mr. Hardcastle submitted the following order : Ordered, That leave of absence he granted to W. H. De- -weese until Wednesday next. Which was adopted. Mr. Clarke, of Baltimore City, submitted the following -order: Ordered, That the Committee on Public Buildings be in- structed to ascertain what amount was realized by the sale of the Maryland Hospital; how applied, and what contracts, if any have been made for the erection of new buildings, and the amount necessary to bo appropriated for the completion of the same, and such other information as may be necessary to a full understanding of the matter. Which was adopted. Mr. Henkle submitted the following order: Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Dr. Du- -vall, of Anne Arundel, is detained from his seat by sickness. Which was adopted. Mr. Baldwin submitted the following order : Ordered, That Mr. Riley have leave of absence for this day. "Which was adopted. Mr. Chaisty submitted the following order : Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal of the House, that Mr. Foster, delegate from the City of Balti- more, is detained at home on account of sickness.
