1872.] OF THE SENATE. 151 Section 24. The Treasurer of the State shall record all State coupons that have been or may hereafter be paid and, returned to the Treasury by the Agents employed to pay the interest on the public debt; and shall, together with the Comptroller, at the close of every month, examine and burn all such coupons that have been recorded, and shall make a report of their proceedings, showing the amount of the value of such coupons to the Legislature at each session thereof. Which, On motion by Mr. Williams, Were referred to the Committee on Finance. On motion by Mr. Williams, Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Jump, until Monday next. On motion by Mr. Crawford, The Senate adjourned. TUESDAY, February 6, 1872. The Senate met. Prayer by Rev. Father Otis. Present the following Senators : Messrs. President, Blake, Compton, Carroll, Crawford, Claggett, Denson, Davis, Earle, Fields, Henry, Longwell, Miller, Stephenson, Sellman, Spencer, Steiner, Timmons, Wilson, Williams—20. The Journal of yesterday was read and approved. Mr. Miller presented the petition of G. H. Owens, Adam Launman, George H. Boyd, R. L. Thomas, and ninety-nine other citizens of Cecil and Harford counties, remonstrating against the passage of any law abridging the light to fish with gill nets in any of the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries. |
