152 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 6, Mr. Stephenson presented the memorial of sixty-seven citizens of Harford county, praying the passage of a law to- prevent the destruction of the class of small birds, known as, insectivorous birds. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri- culture. On motion by Mr. Stephenson, Leave was granted to Messrs. Stephenson, Claggett and Crawford, to report a bill to amend and re-enact section 7 of Article XII., of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Har- ford County," sub-title "Almshouse," On motion by Mr. Davis, Leave was granted to Messrs. Davis, Steiner and Williams to report a bill for the protection of travelers on public highways, crossed by railroads in this State. Mr. Williams, from a Select Committee, to which leave had been granted, reported A bill, entitled an Act to authorize the County Commis- sioners of Calvert county to subscribe to the capital stock of the Baltimore and Drum Point R. R. Company. Which was read the first time, and On motion by Mr. Williams, Ordered to be printed. Senate bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 47, Article-XVIII, of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Clerks of Courts," and to re-enact the same with amend- ments, Being upon its second reading, Mr. Miller moved to amend the bill by striking out the- second section. Which was adopted. , The bill, as amended, was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. Senate bill, entitled an Act to amend the Act parsed Janu- ary Session, 1848, chapter 201; entitled an Act to incorporate- and endow the Cambridge Female Academy, so as to change the name the of corporation to that of the Cambridge Female- Seminary, Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays as fellows: |
