1872.] OF THE SENATE. 145 The Petition of James II. Ridgaway and twenty others, praying the passage of a law establishing a grain weigher's 'office in the City of Baltimore. Also, The petition of A. W. P. Robinson and twenty-eight other citizens of Talbot county asking the same. Which were severally read, and referred to the Committee on Finance. Also, -The petition of numerous citizens of Talbot county, ask- ing the passage of a law forming an additional election district in said county. Which was read and referred to Messrs. Jump, Earle and Fields. Mr. Spencer presented the petition of sundry citizens of Kent county, praying the passage of a law to increase the jurisdiction of Justices of the Peace from one hundred dol- lars to two hundred dollars; also to increase the penalty of Constable's bonds from 2,000 to 5,000 dollars. Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Judi- cial Proceedings. On motion by Mr. Steiner, it was Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that Mr. Steiner would have voted in the negative upon the final pas- sage of the License Law, on Friday, had he not been de- tained from the Session by attendance upon committee busi- ness. On motion by Mr. Crawford, it was Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal, that Mr. Crawford would have voted in the negative upon the final passage of the License Law, on Friday, had he been in his seat, Mr. Blake presented the application of Margaret Bull, asking to be restored to the pension lolls, Also, The application of Wm. Chesney, asking the same. Which were severally read and referred to the Committee on Pensions. On motion by Mr. Steiner, Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to introduce a bill, entitled a supplement to the act entitled an. 10 |
