144 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb- 5, MONDAY, February 5th, 1872. Senate met pursuant to adjournment. Prayer by the Rev. Father Freitag. Present at roll call the following Senators : Messrs. President, Blake, Compton, Crawford, Earle, Henry, Jump, Longwell, Stephenson, Sellman, Spencer, Steiner, Wilson, Williams—14. The proceedings of Friday were road and approved. Mr. Spencer presented the petition of Howard Meeks of Kent county, praying the passage of a law in relation to taxing dogs ; the revenue accruing from said tax to be appropriated to the use of the School Fund of the several coun- ties. Which was read. Mr. Spencer moved to refer said petition to the Committee on Agriculture. Which was determine! in the negative. Said petition was then referred to Messrs. Spencer, Wil- liams and Sellman. Also, The petition of sundry citizens of Maryland, praying the passage of a law taxing the stock and property of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance. Mr. Blake presented the petition of Mary Burger, asking to be placed on the pension rolls. Also, The petition of James Morfred, asking the same. Which were severally read and referred to the Committee on Pensions. Mr. Jump presented the petition of Harriett Collyer of Talbot county, asking for a pension. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions. Also, |
