The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and delivered the following messages : BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, February 1, 1872. Gentlemen of the Senate : We have received your message proposing the appointment of a Joint Special Committee of five, two on the part of the Senate, and three on the part of the House, to visit the Gov- ernor at his mansion, and ascertain if anything is required in the furnishing of the mansion, &c. We concur therein, and have appointed Messrs, dark, of Baltimore City, Ford, of Queen Anne's, and Penington. By order, MILTON Y, KIDD, Chief Clerk. Also, BY IKE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, February 1, 1872. Gentlemen of the Senate: We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body, to appoint a Joint Special Committee, of three from the House and two from the Senate, to enquire into the cause of the disaster to the ice-boats Chesapeake and Maryland, and whether such disasters are to be attributed to incompetence on the part of the management of said boats or negligence on the part of the officers and crews of said boats. We have appointed on the part of the House, Messrs. Mc- Cosker, Smith and Staylor. By order, MILTON Y. KIDD, Chief Clerk. Mr. Timmona submitted the following message : |
