Mr. Blake submitted the application of Sarah Gray and
Rachel Talbot, asking to be restored to the State pension
rolls.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.
Mr. Henry presented the petition of M. B. Marshall and
one hundred and five other citizens of Dorchester county,
against any change in the oyster law in relation to taking
and planting of oysters during the summer months.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
On motion by Mr. Stephenson, it was
Ordered, That the Committee on Finance inquire into and
report upon the expediency of cancelling and destroying the
currency five per cent. State stock and the State bonds in-
vested in the Defence Loan which stand to the credit of the
sinking fund, and of selling the investments made in the
Baltimore City six per cent. stock, and take up overdue
State bonds to that amount, and of abolishing the sinking
fund system entirely.
Mr. Wilson presented the petition of Elizabeth Simpson,
of Prince George's county, asking to be placed on the pension
rolls.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.
On motion by Sir. Claggett,
Leave was granted Messrs. Claggett, Stephenson and
Crawford to introduce a bill, entitled an Act to repeal an
Act passed January Session, 1870 chapter 11, entitled an
Act to repeal section 204 of Article XXI. of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws for Washington county, relating to Justices
of the Peace and Constables in said county, and to amend and
re-enact said section 204, Article XXI., of the said Code, to
read as follows.
On motion by Mr. Timmons,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Timmons, Dennis and Fields
to introduce a bill, entitled an Act to change the dividing
line between the First and Eighth Election Districts of Wor-
cester county.
On motion by Mr. Jump, it was
Ordered, That the State Librarian furnish ivory folders
for (he use of the members of the Senate and officers
thereof.
