On motion by Mr. Carroll, The said bill was recommitted to the Committee on Finance, Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, to whom leave had been granted, reported A bill, entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to pay A. J. Mowbray, late Collector of Taxes, in Dorchester county, the amount overpaid by him into the Treasury. Which was read the first time. Mr. Denson presented the petition of Win. S. Shaw, builder of the oyster steamer Leila, praying certain relief therein mentioned. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance. Mr. Blake submitted the following message : BY THE SENATE, January 31, 1872. Gentlemen of the House of Delegates : We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body the appointment of a Joint Special Committee of five, two on the part of the Senate, and three on the part of the House, to visit the Governor, at his Mansion, and ascertain if there is anything required in the furnishing of the Mansion that will add to the comfort of himself and family. We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs. Blake and Fields. By order, AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY, Secretary. Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of Delegates. On motion by Mr. jump, Leave of absence was granted to Wm. L. Arringdale, until Thursday. On motion by Mr. Blake, Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed- ings to report a bill to repeal and re-enact sections one hun- dred and forty-one, one hundred and -forty-three, and one hundred and forty-seven, and to re-enact in place |
