Which was read and referred to the Committee heretofore
appointed on that subject.
Mr. Jump presented the petition of Elizabeth Ford, ask-
ing a pension.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.
Mr. Stephenson presented the memorial of two hundred
and twenty-nine citizens of Harford county, protesting
against the passage of any law abridging the right to nail
"with gill-net in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and its
Tributaries.
Which was read and, referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
On motion by Mr. Miller,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Internal Improve-
ments to report a bill, to be entitled ' an Act to authorize
the Board of Public Works to release the Mortgages held by
the State upon a portion of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal
lying within the city of Washington."
On motion by Mr. Denson, it was
Ordered, That the Secretary of the Senate procure for the
use of the Senate Chamber six sofas or settees.
On motion by Mr. Spates,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill, entitled an Act to amend the Act incorpor-
ating tile town of Oakland, in Allegany county, and re-enact
the same, to read as follows.
Also,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Spates, Carroll and. Long-
well to report a hill, entitled an Act to add an additional
section to the Public Local Laws of Allegany county, and
to repeal sections 24, 25, and 26 there of, and re-enact the
game, with amendment to read as follows.
On motion by Mr. Longwell,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill, entitled an Act to repeal sections 1-and
4, Article XIII., of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating
to Bastardy, and to re-enact the same with amendments.
Mr. Denson, from a Select Committee to which had been
referred House bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore, to issue the bonds of said
city to an amount not exceeding two hundred thousand dol-
