114- JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS ["Jan. 26, pliance of the said company and other patties in interest, with certain conditions set forth in the said act, be no longer bound to account for and pay into the State Treasury, the proportion of the passage money received for the transporta- tion of passengers travelling between Baltimore and Wash- ington heretofore claimed by the State, and to re-enact the same as amended. Mr. Earle submitted the following older : Ordered, That the Printer place on the desk of the Reporter of the Baltimore News Association, five copies of each printed bill, as the same is furnished to the Senate. Which was adopted. On motion by Mr. Spates, Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed- ings to introduce a bill, entitled an Act to amend Article LXXV. of the Public General Laws of this State, by adding thereto certain additional sections, providing for the ascer- tainment by the Courts of this State, of sums of money al- leged to be due by this State in the cases referred to in this Act, and for the allowance of set-off" in certain cases against the State. Also, Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to introduce a bill, entitled an Act to repeal the 24th section of the Act of January Session, 1870, chapter 476, entitled "An Act to provide for the creation and regulation of Incorpor- ated Companies in the State of Maryland," and to re-enact the same, with amendments, giving additional powers to railroad companies incorporated by this State. Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, (to which leave had been granted), reported a bill, entitled a further supplement to the Act entitled An Act to incorporate the Fredericktown Savings' Institution, passed at December Ses- sion, 1827, chapter 142 of the General Assembly of Mary- land, repealing the 5th section thereof, and re-enacting the same, with amendments. Which was read the first time. ) Mr. Steiner, from a Special Committee, to which had been referred House Bill, entitled an Act authorizing the County Commissioners of Frederick County to subscribe to the capi- tal stock of the Liberty and Frederick Turnpike Company of said city, reported favorably thereon, and the Said bill was read the second time. On motion, the Senate adjourned. |
