Said bill was then relumed to the House of Delegate*, On motion by Mr. Fields, it was Ordered, That when the Senate adjourn, it stand adjourned until Monday, the 29th instant, at 12 o'clock. House bill, entitled an Act to amend the chater of the Manor Mining and Manufacturing Company, passed at Janu- ary Session, 1853, chapter 166, Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays, as follows : AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Jump, CarroII, Long well, Crawford, Miller, Claggett, Stephenson, Den son, Spates, Dennis, Steiner, Earle, Timmons, Fields, Wilson—16. NEGATIVE—None. Said bill was then returned to the House of Delegates. Mr. Steiner presented the petition of three hundred and. thirty-five citizens of Frederick County, (one hundred and seventeen of whom are females), praying the passage of a. general law to enable the qualified voters of any Ward in. any City, or Election District in any County, within the State, to determine by ballot whether drinking houses may or may not be licenced, within said ward or district, under existing law ; and in all wards or election districts voting against; such license, to prohibit the sale of such drinks, (ex- cept lor medicinal purposes), and provide for the same a penalty. Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Judi- cial Proceedings. On motion by Mr. Denson, Leave was granted to the Committee on. Finance to intro- duce a bill, to amend the Act of January Session, 1852, chapter 328, entitled " An Act relating to tolls to be charged. by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company on the Wash- ington branch of the said road," by providing that the said.
