The President laid before the Senate the following com- munication from J. C. Clarke, President of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, in relation to 'the suit of W. W. Corcoran vs. said Company. OFFICE CHESAPEAKE AND OHIO CANAL COMPANY, ) FREDERICK, MD., January 26, 1872. § To the Honorable, the Senate of Maryland: GENTLEMEN—In accordance with the order adopted by your Honorable Body on the 17th of January, I herewith proceed to lay before you Statement "A," which is a certified copy of the bill filed by W. W. Corcoran in the-Supreme Court of the District of Columbia, against the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, and- the Trustees named in the Act creating the preferred bonds. Statement "B" is a certified copy of the answer of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, filed in the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia. Statement "C" is a certified copy of the Rules of Practice of the aforesaid Court. "Statement "D" is a certified copy of the action of the stockholders of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company on the 29th December, 1871. Statement "E" is a copy of the opinion of the Court of Appeals of Maryland, at the April Term of 1870, classifying the priorities of creditors of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, and the decision of the Court on the questions of |
