104 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 26, Mr. Earle asked leave of the Senate to have the following bill printed: A bill, entitled an Act to provide for the levying and col- lection of a tax on the transportation of coal. mined in this State, and transported from the mines for sale. Said leave was granted. On motion by Mr. Carroll, The Senate adjourned. FRIDAY, January 26th. 1872 Senate met pursuant to adjournment. Prater by the Rev. Mr. Higley. Present at roll call the following Senators : Messrs. President, Carroll, Crawford, (Claggett, Denson, Dennis, Earle, Fields, Henry, Jump, Longwell, Miller, Stephenson, Spates, Bellman, Spencer, Steiner, Timmons, Wilson—19. Mr. Claggett presented several petitions from citizens of Hagerstown, praying that sufficient power be granted to the Mayor and City Council of Hagerstown, to provide a. supply of water tor the use of said city. Which wax referred to Messrs Claggett, Stephenson and Fields. On motion by Mr. Steiner, Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to prepare and report a bill, granting pensions to Richard Wootton and Jeremiah Frazier, soldiers of the war or 1812, and to Catharine Hoffman and Sarah Miller, widows of sol- diers of the same war, whose names had previously been on the list of pensioners, but were omitted in the Act of 1870.
