1872.] OF THE SENATE. 103 The Senate proceeded to the consideration of Executive busi- ness. The Senate having resumed Legislative business, On motion by Mr. Fields, Leave of absence was granted to Senator Davis until Mon- day next. On motion by Mr. Earle, Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report a bill to add additional sections to Article LXXXI., of the Code of Public General Laws of the State, entitled "Revenue and Taxes," under sub-title "National Banks." Also, Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report a bill to tax the gross receipts of Railroad Companies in this State tor State purposes. Also, Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report a bill to repeal section ninety-three of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Revenue and Taxes," and enact the following section in lieu thereof. Mr. Earle asked leave to have the following bills printed: A hill, entitled an Act to repeal section 93 of Article LXXXI. of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Rev- enue and Taxes," and to enact the following section in lieu thereof. Also, A bill, entitled an Act to add additional sections to Article LXXXI. of the Code of Public General Laws of this State, entitled "Revenue and Taxes," under the sub-title of "Nati- onal Banks." Also, ' A bill, entitled an Act to tax the gross receipts of Railroad Companies in this State for State purposes. Said leave was granted. On motion by Mr. Earle, Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report a bill, to provide for the levying and collection of a tax on the transportation of coal, mined in this State, and transport- ed from said mines for sale. |
