Senate bill, entitled an Act. for the repair and improve-
ment of the public roads in Calvert county,
Was taken up, when
Mr. Williams offered the following amendment:
Strike out section 8, and insert in lieu thereof:
Section 8. And be it, enacted, that chapter two hun-
dred and ninety-nine or the Act of'' eighteen hundred and six-
ty-eight., entitled an Ac!'- to repeal the Act of eighteen hun-
dred and sixty-seven, chapter two 'hundred and ninety, enti-
tled an Act to mid a new Article to the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, to be. entitled "Public Roads," except so fur as
said Act relates to Somerset county, and to enact the follow-
ing section in lieu thereof,, bo and the sames is hereby repealed
'in so far as the same applies to Calvert comity.
Which was adopted.
The bill, as amended, was read the second time, and ordered
to be engrossed ('or a third reading.
Senate bill, entitled an Act to repeal sections 170, 171 and
172, of Article I. of the Code of Local Laws, under the head
of Allegany county, relating to weights and measures,
Was read the second time and ordered to he engrossed, for
a third reading,
Senate bill, entitled an Act directing the County Commis-
sioners of Washington county to issue bonds to raise money
to build a Court House in said county, and appointing Com-
missioners to contract to erect the same,
Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays as
follows :
AFFIRMATIVE.

Claggett, Spencer,
Downs, Steiner,
Fields, Timmons,
