On motion by Mr. Jump, it was Ordered, That the Comptroller of the Treasury prepare and send to the Senate, list of persons drawing pensions un- der the Act of 1870, and also list of those paid by the pro- viso in said bill. Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, to which leave had been granted, reported a bill, entitled a supple- ment to an Act, entitled an Act to incorporate the Germania Library Association of Baltimore, passed at December session, 1847, chapter 37. Which was read the first time. Mr Carroll moved to suspend the rules so as to give the said bill a second reading. The yeas and nays were called, as required by section 27 of Article 3 of the Constitution, and appeared as follows: AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Miller, Compton, Stephenson, Carroll, Spates, Crawford, Sell man, Claggett, Spencer, Downs, Steiner, Dennis, Timmons, Fields, Tuck, Henry, Williams—19. Longwell, Said bill was then read the second time. House Joint Resolution in reference to the matter of W. W. Corcoran vs the Directors of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, Was read the third time, When Mr. Tuck offered the following amendment to the resolution: Strike out the words to "employ additional counsel" find insert in lieu thereof the words : Direct the Attorney General. Which was adopted, The vote recurring upon the resolution as amended it was adopted as follows: |
