Which was read the first time.
Mr. Claggett, from a Select Committee, to which leave
had been granted, reported a hill, entitled an Act directing
the County Commissioners of Washington county to issue
bonds to raise money to build a Court House in said county'
and appointing Commissioners to contract to erect the same.
During the reading of which,
The hour of 12 o'clock having arrived, the Senate sus-
pended reading said bill and proceeded to the House of Dele-
gates, to cuter into an election of United States Senator.
JOINT ASSEMBLE.
The roll of Senators was then called by the Secretary of
the Senate, and the roll of the House of Delegates by the
Clerk of the House,
When it appeared, by a viva voce vote of each Senator and
Member present, (a majority of all the members elected to
both Houses being present and voting), that on

Whereupon, it appearing that no person had received a
majority of nil the votes cast, the Chairman declared that no
person had hern elected by the Joint Convention, as Senator
from Maryland to the Congress of the United States.
On motion of Mr. Griswold,
At twelve o'clock and twenty minutes, P. M., the Joint
Convention adjourned ' until to-morrow at 12 o'clock, noon,
At '25 minutes past 12 o'clock, the Senators returned and
resumed Legislative business.
Mr. Denson, from a Select Committee, to which leave had
been granted, reported a hill, entitled an Act to repeal section 810 of Article 4, of the Code of Public L local Laws of
the City of Baltimore. chapter 287, passed at January Ses-
sion, 1870, relating to the Police of said city.
