On motion by Mr. Claggett, Leave was grunted to the Committee on Pensions to pre- pare and report a bill to provide lor the payment to Mary Lushbaugh, of Washington county, widow of a soldier of the war of 1812, arrears of pension lost by the accidental omission, of her name from the Act of 1870, chapter 477. On motion by Mr. Stephenson, The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the message from the House of Delegates, in relation to printing. Permission was granted to Mr. Stephenson to withdraw the message offered by him on the 9th inst., in response to House message, and to submit the following in lieu thereof: BY THE SENATE, January 11th, 1872. Gentlemen of the House of Delegates : We have received your message of the 4th inst., proposing that the Committee on Printing of each House be made a Joint Committee on Printing of both Houses, with the powers and duties therein specified, and concur therein. By order, AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY, Secretary. On motion by Mr. Williams, Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed- ings to prepare and report a bill to repeal, and re-enact with amendments, chapter 44 of the Act of 1870, repealing and re-enacting section 170, Article XXX. of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Crimed and Punishments," sub-title "Rivers." Hon. R. O. Hollyday appeared with a communication from His Excellency, Governor Whyte, on Executive busi- ness. On motion by Mr. Tuck, The Senate proceeded to thb consideration of Executive business, and, After a time, resumed Legislative business. On motion by Mr. Blake, Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed- ings to prepare and report a bill, entitled an Act to amend. |
