LAND OFFICE OF MARYLAND,
Annapolis, January 9th, 1872.
Hon. Henry Snyder, President of the Senate :
SIR—In compliance with an order of your Honorable Body,
"that the Commissioner of the Land Office furnish to the
Senate a statement of all sums paid on account of that Department, for the years 1870 and 1871, with the names of
the persons to whom paid, and the Acts of Assembly under
which they were made," I have the honor to submit the
enclosed "Statement," which I have obtained from vouchers
filed in the office of the Comptroller of the Treasury.

Commissioner of the Land Office.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.
Mr. Henry presented the petition of J. M. Beckwith and
eighty-nine other citizens of Dorchester county, in relation
to shooting wild fowl.
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Henry, Fields and
Compton.
On motion by Mr. Henry,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to pre-
pare and report a bill to provide for the payment to James
Plummer, of Dorchester county, a soldier of the war of
1812, an ears of pension lost by the accidental omission of
his name from the Act of 1870, chapter 477.
Mr. Miller presented the petition of Mary E. Blake, Eliz-
abeth Wooden and others, of Cecil county, asking a pension.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.
Mr. Fields submitted the following message :
BY THE SENATE,
January 11th,1872.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :
We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable
Body, to proceed to the election of State Treasurer to-day, at
2 o'clock, P. M.
We have appointed Messrs. Fields and Sellman as tellers
on the part of the Senate, to receive the ballots.
