George Harris, Doorkeeper, appeared, qualified, and en-
tered on the discharge of his duties.
On motion by Mr. Steiner,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Steiner, Davis and Jump to pre-
pare and report a bill entitled an Act supplemental to the Act of
1870, ch. 58, entitled "An Act to authorize the County Com-
missioners of Frederick County to build a new Almshouse for
Frederick County, to borrow money on the credit of the
county for that purpose, to issue bonds for the payment of
the same, and to levy taxes on the assessable property of
said county to redeem said bonds and to pay the interest
thereon."
Mr. Fields offered the following as an addition rule of the
Senate:
All bills appropriating money shall, after their first read-
ing, be printed, and laid upon the desks of Senators at least
five days before any further action shall be taken thereon.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Rules.
Mr. Steiner; from the Select Committee to which the leave
had been granted, reported a bill, entitled "an Act to permit
Frederick Charles Edmund Petre, an alien, to hold certain
real estate."
Which was read the first time. \
Mr. Tuck, from the Select Committee to which leave was
granted, reported a bill, entitled "An Act to limit the
amount of stationery to be furnished members and officers of
the Legislature, &c.
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Williams submitted the following message :
BY THE SENATE,
January 10, 1872.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
We invite you to be present in the Senate at 1 1/2 o'clock, P.
M., to participate with us in the inauguration of the Gover-
nor-elect, and to witness the administration of the oath by
the Chief Justice of the Court of Appeals, in compliance with
the requirements of the Constitution and laws of the State.
We will a point a Committee to wait upon your Honorable
Body, and conduct you to our Chamber. Wa have changed
the hour the ceremony from 3 P.M. 1 1/2 , E. M.
