BY THE SENATE,
January 5th,1872.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates .
We have received your message informing us of the appoint-
ment of a Joint Committee, three on the part of the House
and two on the part of the Senate, to wait on his Excellency,
the Governor elect, and request his attendance on Wednesday
the 10th inst., at 2 o'clock, P. M,, in the Senate Chamber,
to qualify according to the Constitution and form of Govern-
ment of this State, and respectfully non-concur therein. We
would suggest a committee of five to inform the Governor
elect officially by written communication of his election, and.
on his arrival at Annapolis, to wait upon him in conjunction
with the Committee of Arrangements of the Senate, already
appointed, and escort him to the Senate Chamber,
We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs. Earle,
and Compton.

AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,
Secretary.
Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.
On motion by Mr. Blake,
The Senate took up for consideration the order submitted
by him in relation to the adjournment of the Senate.
Mr. Earle moved to reconsider the vote by which the words
"Tuesday, the 9th inst." were stricken out, and the words
"Monday, the 8th inst." were inserted.
On the question being put,
It was determined in the affirmative.
The question then recurred upon the adoption of the order,
and
It was determined in the affirmative.
The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message :
By THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
January 5th, 1872.
Gentlemen of the Senate :
We have received your message, proposing the appoint-
ment of a committee to communicate with his Excellency, the
Governor elect, &c., and respectfully concur therein.
