8 * JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 4, Mr. Stephenson, from the Select Committee to whom the leave was referred, reported a bill, entitled an Act to repeal Chapter 411, passed January Session 1870, entitled an Act to add additional Sections to Article sixty-nine of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Officers," regulating and prescribing the number and compensation of officers of the Senate and House of Delegates, and repealing all Acts in- consistent therewith. Which was read the first time. Mr. Stephenson moved that said bill be read a second time this day. The yeas and nays were called, as required by Section 27 of Article 3 of the Constitution, and appeared as follows ; AFFIRMATIVE : Messrs. President, Henry, Blake, Jump, Compton, Longwell, Carroll, Miller, Crawford, Stephenson, Claggett, Spates, Denson, Bellman, Downs, Spencer, Dennis, Timmons, Earle, Tuck, Fields, Wilson.—22. NEGATIVE : Messrs. Steiner, Williams.—2. Two-thirds of all the Senators elected having voted in the- affirmative, Said bill was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. Mr. Steiner presented sundry certificates in relation to the publication of Turnpike Laws for Frederick county. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi- cial Proceedings, hereafter to be appointed. On motion by Mr. Steiner, Leave was granted to Messrs. Steiner, Spates and Tuck, to prepare and report a bill to be entitled, an Act to con- firm and approve an Act passed January Session 1870. Chap. 2. On motion by Mr. Steiner, Leave was granted to Messrs. Steiner, Tuck and Spates, to prepare and report a bill to he entitled, a supplement to an Act passed January Session 1870, Chap. 2. |
