Mr. Stone, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means,
reported favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 18 of Article LV.,
' of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Licenses," sub-
title "Fisheries and Horse Races."
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Feig, from the Committee on Immigration, reported
favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to appoint a Commissioner of Immi-
gration to protect the interest of labor and agriculture in the
State of Maryland, also receive and provide for all immi-
grants arriving at the port of Baltimore, in the State of
Maryland.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Waller, (the rules being suspended,) presented the peti-
tion of eighty-six voters of Somerset county, asking the erec-
tion of a new election district out of No. 1 and 2 of said
county, to be called "Monokin District."
Which was read and referred to the Somerset delegation.
Mr. Bowie, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported fa-
vorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to authorize the County Commis-
sioners of Prince George's county to build a bridge.
Which was read a first time.
The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day,
The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill, en-
titled an Act to repeal section 2, of Article LXIV., of the
Code of Public General Laws relating to Mortgages, and to
re-enact the same, with amendments.
Said bill being upon a third reading,
On motion of Mr. Chaisty,
The vote by which the bill was ordered to a third reading
was re-considered.
The bill then being upon a second reading,
Mr. Chaisty submitted the following amendment:
