The Journal of yesterday was read.
Mr. Stone, Chairman of Select Committee, to report upon
Subordinate Officers for this House, submitted the following
REPORT.
The committee to whom was referred an order of the
House of Delegates, "to determine the officers necessary to
a proper organisation of the House, and to fill the said offi-
ces," have had the same under consideration, and beg leave
respectfully to report:
That the Act of 1870, Chap. 411, fixes the number of offi-
cers of the House of Delegates, and in their action in the
premises the committee have been governed entirely by that
act.
We recommend the adoption of the following order.
F. STONE, Chairman.
Ordered, That the following named gentlemen be declared
the permanent officers of this House :
B. H. Hanson, of Harford County, Journal Clerk.
James A. Bramble, of Dorchester County, Sargeant-at-
Arms.
John T. Dawkins, of Calvert County, Engrossing Clerk,
Samuel Storm, of Baltimore County, Samuel Glanville, of
Baltimore City', John R. Wilson, of Somerset County, and
E. G. Gardner, of Montgomery County, Committee Clerks.
Esma Lowe, of Caroline County, and Robert H.-Clements,
of Queen Anne's County, Folders.
Conrad Prince, of Baltimore City, and James H. Petticord,
of Kent County, Door Keepers.
Samuel H. Patterson, of Carroll County, and Henry F.
Palmer, of Baltimore City, Pages.
Rev. B. S. Highley, of Anne Arundel County, Chaplain.
Which was read.
Mr. Routzahn submitted the following substitute as an
amendment:
Ordered, That the following gentlemen be appointed offi-
cers of this House:
Peter W. Shafer, of Frederick County, Engrossing Clerk.
John S. Repp, of Frederick County, Journal Clerk.
Ernest A. O. Fox, of Frederick County, Sargeant-at-Arms.
John Monroe, of Anne Arundel County, T. Blair McCul-
lough, of Allegany County, Chas. E. Slifer, of Frederick
