Mr. Chaisty presented the petition of Captain Jacob Dahl, asking remuneration for military articles furnished the State of Maryland. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims. Also, The petition of Catharine Middleton, widow of John D. Middlleton, a soldier of the War of 1812 and 1814, asking to be replaced on the list. of pensioners, and soliciting the pay- ment of pensions withheld during the past two years. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen- sions. Mr. Harig presented the petition of Telasao Tribe, No. 46, Independent Order of Red Men, of Baltimore City, to be ex- empted from City and State tax. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways- and Means. Mr. Miller presented the petition of John Blickenstoff and others, of Frederick county, asking pension for Barbara and Susana Stottenger. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen- sions. ^ M Also, The petition of Lewis Markell, George P. Webster, Dr. Fairfax Schley, and one hundred and fifteen, other citizens of Frederick county, against any law that will take the control of' the Almshouae from the County Commissioners of said county. Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on that subject. Also, The petition of A. H. Rinehart, N. J. Worthington, and thirty-five other citizens of Frederick county, asking that the excessive charge of the local tariff by the B. & O. El. It. Co., be reduced.
