TUESDAY, January 23, 1872
The House met, and was opened with prayer by the
Chaplain,
Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Groome, Mearns, Penington, Scott, Bowie, Eareckson, Ford,
of Q. A., Parker, Phillips, Delaplane, Miller, Routzahn,
Riley, Baldwin, Streett, Deweese, McCosker, Hamilton, T.
H., Cooper, Hamilton, C. R., Jamart, Foster, Staylor, Stew-
art, Travers, dark, of B. city, Colton, of B. city. Kirk,
Chaisty, Harig, Feig, McColgan, Markland, Griswold,
Young, of Wash. co., Ardinger, Newcomer, Whitson, Hil-
ton, Riggs,Clark,of Mont, Porter, Cole, Young, of Alle.,
Steele, Polk, Lamotte, H. H,, Linthicum, Langrell—70.
The Speaker laid before the House the Annual Report of
the Baltimore Female College
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.
Mr. McCosker presented the petition of John Foller, of
Canton, Baltimore county, asking for indemnity for losses
sustained, by a mob.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr. Routzahn presented the petition of America E. Culler,
Matilda A. Bowers and eighty other ladies, to prevent the sale
of ardent spirits in Jefferson District, Frederick county.
Also, „;
The petition of Daniel Culler, Charles E. Thomas and
others, to prevent Use sale of ardent spirits in Jefferson Dis-
trict, Frederick county.
Also,
The petition of Ella S.Whip, Mary L. Charlton and twenty-
six other ladies of Jefferson District, Frederick county, for
the suppression of ardent spirits.
Also,
The petition of Geo. T. Whip, Abram Hemp and others, to
