1872. ] OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES. 1031 Mr. Streett submitted the following amendment: AMENDMENT PROPOSED. At the end of section 86 add a new section to be entitled, Section 87, and to read as follows : "All other goods, wares, merchandize and effects, which are the production of any foreign country, all domestic manufacturers and all goods, wares, merchandize and effects, and property, of what kind soever, not enumerated above at the rate of seventy-five cents on every hundred dollars, save and excepting that class of goods known as groceries and dry goods, including carpets, boots and shoes, which shall only be subjected to a duty of ten cents on every hundred dollars." Which was adopted. The bill as amended, was then read a second time, and or-dered to be engrossed for a third reading. The bill entitled an Act to pay the claim of George C. Merrick, State's Attorney for Prince George's county, Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Comptroller to audit and settle the claim of Catharine Middleton, Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. The bill entitled an Act to repeal section 53, of Article XVI., of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Prince George's County," sub-title "Collectors," and to re-enact the same with amendments, Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. The bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Commissioners of Howard county to re-assess such real estate in said county as in their discretion they may deem, proper, Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. The bill entitled an Act to authorize the {County Commis- sioners of Anne Arundel county to correct errors of assess- ment on the property of Joseph O. Fowler, Jr., Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. The bill entitled an Act to enable the qualified voters of Election District No. 8, of Dorchester county, to determine by ballot whether spirituous or fermented liquors shall be sold in said district, or a license granted for the same, |
