102 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 18,
Mr. Streett submitted the following order:
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Messrs.
Baldwin and Riley are detained from their seats in this House
by reason of sickness in their families.
Which was adopted,
Mr. Polk submitted the following order :
Ordered, That II. H. Lamotte be excused from this House
on account of sickness in family until Tuesday next.
Which was adopted.
Mr. Bond submitted the following order :
Ordered, That Dr. Dawkins (one of the Clerks) be allowed
leave of absence until Wednesday next.
Which was adopted.
Mr. Shipley submitted the following order :
Ordered, That the Board of County Commissioners of
Baltimore county present to this Honorable Body, within the
next fourteen days, H, detailed statement of the amount, of sales
of the Almshouse property, the expenses connected with said
sale, lira amount of said fund already expended and for what,
the amount still on hand, how invested and where deposited,
and what payments, if any, are still due by the purchasers
of said property, by whom due, what interest said deferred
payments are bringing and how secured, and any and all
other information connected therewith in the knowledge of
(he said Board of County Commissioners.
Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. McColgan,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill, to appoint an interpreter in the Orphans'
Court of Baltimore City.
On motion of Mr. Spencer,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill, to renew, alter and amend (lie Act, to incorpo-
rate the Baltimore Manual Labor School for indigent boys,
passed March 14th, 1840.
On motion of Mr. dark, of Baltimore City,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill, to authorize the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore City, to endorse or guarantee the mortgage bonds
of the Western Maryland Railroad Company, and to provide
a sinking fund in connection therewith.
