994 JOUENAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 25,

The Speaker appointed Z. Poteet, Reading Clerk pro
tem., during the absence of Thomas H, Moore, detained
at home by reason of sickness.

The House proceeded to the consideration of the following
order submitted by Mr. Choate on the 23d instant:

Ordered, That after to-morrow, 24th instant, this House
meet regularly at 10 o'clock, A. M.

The order was then adopted.

Mr. Touchstone submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Joseph H. Cameron, page of this House,
have leave of absence until Monday next, to attend to urgent
business.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Crouse submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Mr. Shower hare leave of absence on
account of sickness.

The Speaker laid before the House the memorial from the
Mayor and City Council bf Baltimore, praying the passage
of a law authorizing the loaning of the credit of Baltimore
city to the Lynctburg and Danville Railroad Company.

Which was read and referred to the Baltimore city dele-
gation.

Mr. Shipley presented the petition of Wm. H. Worthing-
ton and 45 others.

Also,

The petition of Thomas Biggs and 60 others.

Also,

The petition of Clark Webb and 40 others.

Also,

The petition of Nathan Warfield and 40 others, against
any law to prevent stock from running at large in Baltimore
county,

Which, were severally, read and referred to the Baltimore
county delegation.

On motion of Mr. Shipley,

Leave was granted to the Baltimore county delegation to
introduce & bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act
authorizing the Commissioners of Baltimore county, if they,
in their judgment, consider the claim just and fair, to levy a
tax upon the first electi on district of said county, as the same
