Public Schools, under the Act of 1832, chapter 287, passed
January session, 1856, chapter 1T2.
On motion of Mr. Duke,
Leave was granted to the Anne Arundel and Calvert dele-
gations to introduce a bill relating to the stay of execution
in Anne Arundel and Calvert counties, and extending the
time for enforcing payment.
On motion of Mr. Webb,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill entitled an Act to amend the charter of the
Washington Fire Insurance Company of Baltimore.
On motion of Mr. Chapman,
Leave was granted to the Select Committee on State Tobac-
co Warehouses to report a Bill amendatory of section 535, of
Article 4, of Public Local Laws, title ''City of Baltimore,"
sub-title "Tobacco."
On motion of Mr. Keill,
Leave was granted to the Washington delegation to intro-
duce a bill to authorize the Mayor and Council of Hagers-
town to proceed to open the alley in said town, closed by the
Act of 1832, under and in the manner prescribed by the Act
of 1866, chapter 73.
On motion of Mr. Garey,
Leave was granted to the Caroline delegation to introduce
a bill to repeal sections 50 to 15 inclusive, of Article 6, of
the Code of Public Local Laws for Caroline county, title
"Denton," and re-enact the same with amendments.
On motion of Mr. Watkins,
Leave was granted to the Montgomery delegation to intro-
duce a bill to protect the raising of sheep in Montgomery
county by taxing dogs.
On motion of Mr. Colton,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Claims to intro-
duce a bill or bills entitled an Act to pay the claims of John
Murphy, Elijah Towers, Nathan Masters, — Schley, Philip
Bandell and sundry others.
Mr. Merrick, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, submitted the following Report upon the special mes-
sagfe of the Governor of March 15, 1870, relating to the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company:
