On motion of Mr. Hammond,

Leave was granted the Talbot delegation, to introduce a
bill to empower the Commissioners of Talbot and Caroline
counties to control the roads and bridges in said counties.

On motion of Mr. Veitch,

Leave was granted to the Montgomery delegation, to in-
troduce a bill to amend the charter of the "Union Plank
Road or Turnpike Company."

On motion of Mr. Touchstone,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill to incorporate the Port Deposit Gas Light Com-
pany.

On motion of Mr. Webb,

Leave was granted to the Baltimore city delegation to in-
troduce a bill to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Bal-
timore to submit to a vote of the people an ordinance to pro-
vide for the endorsement of the bonds of the Elkton and
Massey's Railroad Company, and of the Maryland and Dela-
ware Railroad Company, for the purpose of securing direct
railroad connection between Baltimore and all the counties
of the Eastern Shore

On motion of Mr. Beck,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Elections to intro-
duce a bill repealing section 20 of Article 30, of the Code of
Public General Laws, entitled "Crimes and Punishments,"
sub-title, "Bribery."

On motion of Mr. White,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to-
introduce a bill to incorporate the Union Mining and Iron
Manufacturing Company of Frederick county.

Mr. Cotton, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, re-
ported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
pay the claims of William H. Tuok, John L. Smith, Joseph
Phelps, Daniel Caulk, George W. Sands, George W. Murdock,
Thomas J. Duvall, James B. Tate, Sprigg Harwood, Samuel
Davis, John Sullivan, Samuel W. Brooks, Owen M. Taylor,
P. Dorsey Carr, Walter Crook, Jr., Thomas A. Makibbin,
George Herring, William C. Parker, and Daniel Sanders.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Merrick, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably,
