So the motion to postpone was decided in the negative.
Mr. Richards submitted the following amendment:

Section 2, line 3, strikeout all after the word "effect," and
insert in lieu thereof: the first day of May, 1872.

Mr. Wiley moved to strike out the enacting clause of the
bill.

Decided in the negative.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the
amendment submitted by Mr. Richards,

The bill was then read a second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to protect the Craighill Channel
at the mouth of the Patapsco river,

On motion of Mr. Chapman,

The House proceeded .to the consideration of the bill enti-
tled an Act to repeal and re-enact with amendments, sections
12 and 14, of Article 41, Code of Public General Laws title
"Fish and Fisheries," sub-title "Potomac," and to add ad-
ditional sections thereto, for the further protection of fish and
regulation of the shad and herring fisheries in said river.

Said bill being upon asecond reading,

Mr, Mitchell submitted the following amendment:

Section 14, line 4, insert after the word "landing," the
words, "within hawling dictance from such shore,"

Which was adopted.

Mr. Mitchell submitted the following amendment:

Sub-section 3, line 4, insert the word "require," before the
word "fathoms," in same line strike out the words : "in
length and value of out fit," and insert in lien thereof the
words, or not when rigged, and that he is the bona fide owner
of the same," line 5 after the word "granted," strike out all
