So the motion to postpone the further consideration of the
bill was decided in the negative.

The second reading of the bill was then proceeded with.
Mr. Merrick submitted the following amendment:

Section 1, sub-section "Militia," line 3, after the word
"dollars," insert: Provided, said three sums be paid out of
the appropriation of twenty-five thousand dollars for the sup-
port of the Militia.

Mr. Merrick submitted the following amendment:

Section 1, line 6, sub-section, "Schools," strike out the
words "tax on passengers of," and insert: revenue from.

Which was adopted.

Section 1, line 9, sub-section, "Schools," strike out the
word " fifteen," and insert the word twenty.
