So the motion submitted by Mr. Veitch was decided in
the negative.

Mr. Percy submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 1, line 4, strike out the word "fifteen," beiore the
word millions, and insert the word: six.

Pending the consideration whereof,

On motion of Mr. Standish,

At 10 1/2 o'clock, P. M., the House adjourned until to-mor-
row morning at 11 o'clock.

SATURDAY, March 19, 1870.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Dr. Edwards.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members :

Anne's, Purnell, Bowlus, White, Baldwin, of Harford, Hop-
kins, Hardcastle, of Caroline, Garey, Sanner, Hamilton,
Blake, Webb, Wilson, of Baltimore city, McLane, Colton,
Kirk, Collins, Ehlen, Markland, Sword, Hilton, Veitch,
Kean, Standish, Myers, Percy, Shower, Merrick, Crawford,
Gordy—47.

Mr. Bowlus presented the petition of Catherine Shower,
widow of Joseph Shower, a soldier of the war of 1812, for a
pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Marbury presented the petition of Nathan Masters, of
Prince George's county, to have refunded to him thirty dol-
lars and sixty-five cents erroneously paid into the State
Treasury as collector of taxes.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.
